Merry Christmas from Timberline.
Dec. 24th, 2007 04:01 pmMerry Christmas all. Me and the family are spending the day (although not spending the night) at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Since I've upgraded to a paid account finally I've decided to inflict you all with pictures of the landscape and lodge. Not too many, though. Consider me merciful.
This is my dad and my sister, Sergent Martha. She really is a sergent, although she would probably kill me for telling you guys. Apparently she is out of the Marines, but not OUT out. In other words, she is in the Individual Ready Reserve and recently she received an automatic promotion. In the Marines if you don't fuck up you can get automatically promoted up to Sergent, apparently. Lucky her. Hopefully this does not mean that she'll be called up, but who the hell knows.
This is the 'headhouse' of Timberline Lodge, as seen from behind. The summit of Mt. Hood is behind me. The snow is actually up to the third story on the lodge. Timberline was built during the Great Depression by the WPA, and it is my favoritest place in the whole wide world. No kidding.
And this is a picture of the summit of Mt. Hood. As you can see, the wind is blowing the snow around, but it is a beautiful day.
I'll try to upload some more pictures, later. The Christmas tree here is lovely.
