Of all the times for me to leave my cellphone at home. Jesus.

So I go to my favorite corner store to get some beer. Had a nice talk with my favorite Beer Guy and left to go enjoy a nice refreshing cool one. It was close enough to walk, so I did, despite the rain. On my way out of the parking lot a guy in a van called me over, and stupid me, I thought he needed directions or something. No, he just wanted to give me a ride home. (yeah, right). Me, I said no thanks and left.

He follows me up the street in his nondescript van. Slowly. No one, but NO ONE drives slow on Greenburg road. Speed limit's 35 and everyone does at least 40. So already I'm tipped off that something's wrong. As he passes me he rolls down his window and tries to call me over. I try to ignore him but I'm freaked out enough that I can't keep myself from looking at the van. He turns off and I figure that that's that. He's figured out that I wasn't interested, right?

Wrong. He drives past me AGAIN (must have circled around a block) and then pulled into a street right ahead of me so I can't help but pass him really close. I pull out my keys and make a fist, sticking my keys between my knuckles like a cheap Wolverine, ready to key his van or him if it comes to that and walk past him. He crosses Greenburg and circles around another big block. I'm getting close to my apartment and getting kinda nervous because I DO NO want this guy to know where I live. If I hadn't left my fucking cell phone at home I would have called the cops and asked for an escort back to my apartment, but nooo...

He circles around that big block, apparently hoping that I would lose track of him, but I was watching out for him. He drives past me, slowly, and I flip him off (since he wasn't taking more subtle clues), AND HE TURNS ONTO MY STREET! There's a mini-mall right next to my apartment complex, and he's probably hoping to catch me there. At that point I start looking for other people (actually I was looking well before then, but it was raining so the chances that anyone was out on the street was zero to none). Fortunately I found a guy (hopefully a non-rapist, but you never know) and asked him if he had seen that van. He said no, and then mentioned that there have been problems around here with guys trying to pick kids up at the bus stops. The nice guy walked me back to my complex and I got back safe.

I'm not scared, I'm FUCKING PISSED OFF. Guys, if you ever wonder why when you're walking down the street at night and you pass a woman and she gives you this You're An Evil Rapist Look, well, shit like this is why.

Bah. Time to study. And drink my damn beer.
