I'm getting lazy and fat again. Well, actually I've BEEN fat (verging on obese according to several BMI indexes I've read). So I've decided to up my exercise routine. Make it more routine-y, I guess.

Current weight: 165 pounds.
Goal weight: 120 pounds

Exercise: running on treadmill
Total calories: 265
Current time/speed: 20 minutes/5.5 mph (running) and 10 minutes/1.5 mph (cool down)
Goal time/speed: 30 minutes/6mph

Food eaten:

Breakfast: 1 bowl cereal/milk, 2 cups coffee/milk/sugar, orange juice

Lunch: spaghetti with sauce, parmesan cheese

Dinner: 6 jalepeno poppers (with cream cheese and bacon wrappers)

Snacks: 1 small bowl dry cereal. 1 cup yogurt. 1 peach. Raw broccoli (good!) with ranch dip (bad!) 1 cup milk. 1 cut OJ.

Alcoholic drinks: 2.5 beers.

I am so not going to add the calories up for all of that. But, no doubt, it more then counteracted the good of running. At least I didn't eat out.

Well, it sounds like most of the stuff you ate will be metabolized quickly--the pasta and the sauce are not that bad at all. The cereal, milk, OJ, yogurt, peach, broccoli...those are all pretty good. They may have calories, but the good news is that a lot of them isn't from fat, really.

(Growing up with [livejournal.com profile] vulumesky--remember Skyler?--has turned me into A SECRET AGENT OF PERSONAL FITNESS AND TRAINING BY PROXY. He's a personal trainer and has been since I was like, sixteen, so over the years I had to hear a lot about things I didn't think would ever apply to my life in any way, shape, or form. I was wrong!)

The beers are bad, but eh whatever. It's not like a change can come in a day..and beer is tasty. XD

But the running is GOOOOOOOOD. Don't start the "oh well, everything I eat counteracts the running anyway" train of thought! If you do it every day or every other day, it will start to make a difference if you couple it with mostly healthy eating.

GO YOU

Yay! A free personal trainer!

When I eat at home I tend to eat fairly healthy, the side effect of having lots of pets that need fresh produce as part of their diet. It's when I eat out that I fall down, mostly. And it looks like I'm going to be working at a place that is basically 'lunch break, what the heck is that?' so I *know* I'm going to be starving at the end of the day. (fortunately the first three weeks or so I will still be an extern, and they will be REQUIRED to give me a 30 minute sit down lunch). So a couple of my major goals foodwise will be learning to eat a big breakfast (which means getting up early enough to cook one since eating out somewhere that isn't fastfood isn't cheap) and packing a lunch, and bringing an end of the day snack so I can make it home without heading over to the nearest restaurant.

...and that kinda got long and rambly. Sorry!
