Things I've learned today

3. Skunks generally do not feel threatened by cats.
1. is not an interesting tale, beyond me noting the fact that i am taking a summer math course that is four weeks long. So my mid-term is this week. Bah.
2. is somewhat interesting. I got this headset after returning the previous set the manufactorer, and it failed exactly the same way within weeks of purchase. Since I like this set (it's PURPLE, and I like purple. Yes, I am that shallow) I decided to fix it myself. My first replacement plug was a solder-on thingie from Radio Shack and apparently I suck at soldering shit. So the next plug I bought was a screw-in type. Except I apparently bought a mono instead of stereo plug. So whatever. I DON'T CARE I FIXED IT MYSELF!
3. Me and Mom were sitting on the back porch this afternoon talking about how the last apple tree fell down this morning. As we talked I first spotted a Cooper's Hawk, which was awesome, and THEN I saw three smallish skunks appear out of the backwoods. They walked along the wild rosebushes and young redwoods planted along the fence line to the house. Sis's cat and my cat spotted them and stopped their usual spats to watch them Very Closely. And by that I mean by 'within spraying distance'. And yet, they were not sprayed! The skunks didn't seem to mind them at all.
The skunks checked out the fallen apple tree, and probably ate a few of the apples IDK. I got a bit concerned about my cat, it costs A Lot to de-skunk a dog, and probably more to de-skunk a cat PLUS skunks carry rabies in Oregon and while my cat has had her shots I bet she might need a booster if she got bit. So I took a HUGE risk and got off the porch. Upon seeing me the skunks decided to hightail it back to the woods. They never got more then 20 feet from me, BUT STILL, THREE SKUNKS
Anyways, despite the cats' Deep Interest and close proximity they did not get skunked, so I suspect the skunks either don't think cats are dangerous OR these were too young to know different.
