Came home yesterday to find a note from my sister (unsigned, but her handwriting is distinctively BAD, lol Martha) by my door. It gave me the details on what time we were going to go to Mt. Hood for dinner at Timberline Lodge (and skiing, snowboarding, or just trying to find the new St. Bernard puppy. Timberline has a new Heidi, yay!). What it did not do is tell me what day this event is. I thought it was for tomorrow, but my memory is notoriously screwy so cue me calling my parents in a panic today trying to figure out if I needed to haul ass up the mountain (I think I have chains. I think), or if I could simply hitch a ride with them tomorrow.

Yeah, it was for tomorrow. Silly me.

I feel sorry for all the folks in the Midwest, and extremely glad that I am not living there. I've been hearing things on the radio like 'all the roads out here are ice rinks' which has suddenly made me grateful for western Oregon's annual Winter Rains. Snow and ice is very rare in Portland, we get it about once or twice a year, and a really good snow fall about once every two or three years. And by Really Good I mean like a foot of snow (don't laugh). This shuts down the entire area, stores and schools close, people can't drive and crash into each other and much hilarity ensues. Snow should be something you visit, not live with.

Rain on the other hand...well, one good thing about Portland is that you learn to drive in rain and get to laugh at the Californians who can't deal with it. Honestly though, the rain here isn't so bad. It basically rains from late October through May or June, then it's dry and sunny, but not usually too hot. I have to remind myself How Nice this really is, however, because rain fucking depresses me. I have been feeling tired for the last two weeks because of the freaking rain. Bah.
